It is the introduction of S/4 HANA by SAP that brought synergy in its already accomplished ERP.

As a part of a never ending endeavour, SAP has come up with yet another innovation. Innovation, part of SAP’s strategy, has now been a regular part of our story.

Introduction

Let’s come back to the point, about 1709. On 15th Sep 2017, SAP introduced it’s next release in SAP S/4 HANA where they have done a lot in an attempt to simplify things lot more.

The new release is already generally available and you may go through video that formally introduced 1709.

What’s New?

So…… what’s new about the new release?

Let’s briefly go through some of the highlights of this new release.

Architectural evolution

This release runs on SAP HANA 2, the second generation of SAP’s in-memory database platform, which supports scale-out and usage of active-active for added performance. Progress has been made in Stack Consolidation.

So we are now experiencing innovations even in the database platform……..

Expanding the core

Embedded transportation management. Previously, this required two systems and the corresponding integration. This helps to reduce data redundancy enabling customers to run simple.

Introduction of Catch Weight Management. With this feature, customers use a parallel, variable quantity in inventory management to valuate goods’ movements independently of their logistic quantities.

Innovating the core

Demand-driven replenishment. With the demand-driven buffer level management, customers can now plan and manage supply chains more efficiently

Advanced variant configuration. With the new functionality in SAP S/4HANA 1709, customers are provided with efficient and transparent application support throughout the business process (end-to-end), which is key for their companies.

New tools for SAP S/4HANA adoption

To improve the experience when adopting SAP S/4HANA, SAP recently launched a new set of tools. The SAP Transformation Navigator helps customers determine their go-to solutions.

Industry Specific

Expansion of Industry Roadmap to cover additional industries such as Fashion and Commodity Management. Would help in lower complexities and TCO.

Leonardo

SAP S/4HANA 1709 has Machine Learning available in Cash Management in Finance and Contract Consumption in Procurement.

What else?

There is a lot more in store of 1709…….. we just need to explore it with greater greed……
